The Dr. Hamayun Mian Award 2024
Dr. Hamayun Mian Award was instituted in 2011 in the memory of Late Dr. Hamayun Mushtaq Mian, the cofounder member of the Laurelbank School System established in 1989. The award is given annually to the student with the best all-round performance in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. For the year 2024, the Dr. Hamayun Mian Award carrying a gold medal and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- has been received by Hafsa Qamar from the Girls Branch Shalimar Campus. She has earned the award showcasing excellence in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities specifically in the field of chess. She scored 1075/1100 marks in the Lahore Board Matric Exams 2023. She won 2nd position in the LPS Annual Speech Contest 2019. She was the sub-editor for Laurels 2022-23 with a contribution of various literary pieces and won 1st position in the LSS Inter-Branch Chess Tournament in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Hafsa brought Laurels to school as follows: She won 2nd position in the Learning Alliance Junior Chess Olympiad 2019. She was 2nd runner-up in the NGS Sports Fest Chess Competition 2019. She won 1st position in the National Junior Chess Championship 2022. She received 1st prize in the Learning Alliance Olympiad 2023 and secured 3rd position in the Punjab Rapid Chess Championship in 2023. She represented Pakistan in the Blitz Chess Championship June 2023 at Maldives and in Kazakhstan from 9th – 21st June 2024. There, She won the ‘Best Question Award’ in Chess Grand Master Alisher Suleimenov’s Master Class. Congratulations Hafsa for receiving the ‘Dr. Hamayun Mian Award’.

For the year 2023, Dr. Hamayun Mian Award carrying a gold medal and cash prize of 50, 000/- has been given to Saim Ali from Boys Branch Shalimar Campus. Saim has always held our heads up high with his outstanding performance in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular fields. Marking the track of top positions throughout his school career, he made us proud achieving 3rd position in the Lahore Board Matric Exams 2022 obtaining 1093/1100 marks. He astonished us with his unbeaten skills at chess battlefields. He won first position in LPS Inter-Branch Chess Tournament and also achieved 4th position in the Little Master of Lahore 2017, one of the high-ranked chess tournaments in Lahore organized by the Laurelbank School System. He also won 1st position in chess tournament organized by the Beaconhouse School System in 2018. He got his acting talent acknowledged by performing as ‘Snowman’ in LPS Annual Play ‘Frozen’ in 2017. He won ‘One Star Performance Badge’ in the International Kangaroo Contest 2019. Last but not least, he achieved 1st position in classes IXM –XM Annual Quiz 2022 and received a gold medal.

Dr. Hamayun Mian Award is given annually in the memory of late Dr. Hamayun Mian, cofounder member of the Laurelbank School System.
For the year 2022 Dr. Hamayun Mian Award carrying gold medal and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- has been shared between Muhammad Burhanullah Khan and Muneeb ul Haq from O-Level Section Shalimar Campus I. They have made us proud and appeared to be well deserved holders of this award. Muneeb ul Haq received distinction and won top position in Pakistan in O-Level Physics besides scoring 8As in Cambridge Exam 2021.
Muhammad Burhanullah Khan shared the award owing to his all-round performance in academics as well as in co and extracurricular activities. He scored 9A* and 1A in O Level Exams 2021. He is a good footballer and received gold medal for under 14 Interschool Summer Futsal Tournament and Runnner Up Medal in DHA Football Championship 2018. He also received participation certificate from Guinness World Records in attempt for ‘Most Users in a Football/Soccer Video Hangout’. He also proved his talent in co-curricular field winning 1st position in Annual Speech Contest 2018 and receiving Gold Medal in Annual Quiz 2020.
Top Position in CAIE 2021

We feel extremely pleased and honoured to share that Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz, Matric graduate from The Laurelbank School System Session 2013-2015 won ‘ICAP Kasbati Memorial Gold Medal’ 🏅 at NATIONAL LEVEL for showing outstanding performance in the Certificate in Accounting and Finance Examination March 2019. He further won another National Level ICAP Gold Medal 🏅 for showing outstanding performance in the subject of Financial Accounting and Reporting II of Certificate in Accounting and Finance Examination March 2019.

Emaan Saleem Wins Silver Medal in ‘The Panda Challenge 2020’ at National Level
WWF Pakistan organized ‘The Panda Challenge 2020’, creative writing competition qualifying round, in the month of November 2019 involving schools nationwide. All campuses of LSS entered the competition and Emaan Saleem (V-Red) from Daroghawala Campus along with Osaid Ahmed (V-Blue) from Shalimar Campus I qualified for the ‘Grand Finale’ held on Tuesday 25th Feb. at Ali Institute of Education Lahore.
Competing against 15 qualified participants from various cities of Pakistan, Emaan Saleem won 2nd position and received a Silver Medal along with the ‘High Achiever Certificate’.
Annual Quiz 2020
The Intra-Branch ‘Annual Quiz 2020’ was held on Monday 27th January for Classes IX – X. The top four scorers of the written ‘Table Round’ entered the oral quiz constituting two teams as per the class category.
The winning teams received Gold Medals along with ‘Certificates of Merit’. We congratulate the winners and wish them all best of luck for their upcoming BISE/CAIE Examination.
LPS IDOL 2019
An inter-campus singing contest ‘LPS IDOL’ for the year 2019 was organized in the month of December. The budding singers from classes VI – X of all LSS campuses participated in the contest.
Taskeen Ali from Girls Br. Shalimar Campus I won the title of ‘LPS IDOL 2019’ and received a shield along with a cash prize of Rs. 8000/-

The Dr. Hamayun Mian Award 2018
‘Dr. Humayun Mian Award’ is given annually in the memory of the late Dr.Humayun Mushtaq Mian, the cofounder member of The Laurelbank School System, to the student with the best all round performance. For the year 2018, ‘Dr. Humayun Mian Award’ carrying a gold medal and cash prize of Rs.40,000/- was given to Wedad Ahmed from Cambridge Section Shalimar Campus I. Besides showing a remarkable result in Cambridge International Examination 2017, he participated in LGS Cantt. Model United Nations Conference 2017 and was awarded certificates of ‘Best Delegate’ and ‘Honorable Mention’. He had been a regular participant of speeches and debates and managed to win awards. He was also the active member of the Cambridge section literary society.

Time to Showcase Your Talent
On 24th September, 2016 the British Council organized an event ‘Time to Showcase Your Talent’ at Pakistan – China Friendship Centre Islamabad. A group of 11 students from Shalimar Campus I participated in the event with an exquisite presentation entitled ‘My Pakistan My Pride’. Ahmad Khubaib VIIIMBC and Abeeha Waseem IXMGB sang various regional and national songs. This beautiful medley of songs was made even more exciting by colourful performance of students dressed in colourful regional dresses that represented and highlighted the diverse culture of Pakistan. Students’ performance and especially live singing was highly appreciated by the audience.

CA – Pakistan Olympiad 2015
A team from the Laurelbank Public School Shalimar Campus I, comprising of Khadeeja Asif – XMGC, Muhammad Shahbaz Iqbal – XMBA and Mubashar Fiaz – XMBA won 1st Runner up trophy at a quiz contest titled “CA – Pakistan Olympiad 2015”. The Olympiad was organized by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, on 2nd February 2015 at the Hotel Falettis, Lahore.
Cassini Scientist for a Day, 2014
Khizra Kashif a student of secondary section Girls’ Branch Shalimar Campus I was declared the winner in ‘Cassini Scientist for a Day’ international essay competition 2013 organized by SUPARCO. She secured top score for the target ‘Saturn’ in grade V – VI category and received her prize and certificate in a ceremony organized at SUPARCO Center Lahore on November 11th 2014.

WWF Nature Carnival 2014
On 26 Jan. 2014 the WWF organized Nature Carnival 2014 at the Race Course Park, Lahore. The Laurelbank School System entered projects in 3 different categories i.e. “Benefits of Trees” (classes I – II), “Health and Hygiene” (classes V – VI) and “Disaster Management” (classes VII – VIII). The LPS Shalimar Campus won the 1st prize in level I (classes I – III) and won the 2ndprize in the overall presentation.
Fun and Learn Carnival
Laurelbank Public School was awarded a shield for the ‘Best Stall Presentation’ at the Service Fun and Learn Carnival organized by the British Council on 7thDec. 2013 at the Children’s Library Complex. The carnival provided a chance to students to showcase their ‘Fun and Learn’ activities and related school projects by setting up their school’s stall. They participated with zeal under the guidance of their teachers. Their efforts were well appreciated by the judges and the Dir. Punjab British Council, who was the chief guest on the occasion.

The Dr. Hamayun Mian Award instituted in 2012, is given annually to the student with the Best all round performance both in academics and extra curricular activities. It carries a cash prize of Rs. 40,000/-. This year The Dr. Hamayun Mian Award was split between two brilliant students of LSS, Muneeza Arshad (1004/1050 marks in Matric Exam) and Usman Farooq (9A* and 1A in GCE Exam), for outstanding all round performances. They received Dr. Hamayun Mian medals with cash prizes of Rs. 20,000/- each.
Lahore Board Position Holder
Hafsa Siddiqui, a student at Laurelbank School System achieved 806 out of 850 in the Matric exams. We are all very proud of her. At Laurelbank, our staff, teachers and students work really hard all year round. On one hand we expect our students to participate in extracurricular and sports activities, and on the other, there is no compromise on our academic achievements; we expect the best! Therefore we are really proud of Hafsa Siddiqui for living up to our expectations. Not only did she attain the 3rd Position in the Science Group amongst girls in the XM Lahore Board Exams 2008, she was also awarded Rs.200,000 by the Lahore Board!

Every year the best student of the system with an outstanding all round performance will be given The Dr. Hamayun Mian Award carrying a cash prize of Rs. 40,000/-. This year the award went to Ammar Babar for securing an aggregate of 21As in the O-Levels 2012.
Inter-School Grand Chess Tournament 2012 “The Little Master of Lahore”
M. Shehryar a prodigy of The Laurelbank Public School Shalimar Campus has earned laurels for the school by winning the title of “The Little Master of Lahore” and a gold medal with a cash prize of Rs. 8,000/- in the Grand Inter-School Chess Tournament 2012. The three-day tournament was organized by The Laurelbank School System at its Alhamra Town Campus from 15th – 17th Nov. 2012. This grand achievement of M. Shehryar is the reward of the persistent effort of the administration of LSS in providing chess coaching to the students in the form of chess clubs at all LPS campuses. In a short period of time the little masters of LSS have taken over the flag of victory in the chess
LACAS Science Quiz Competition 2012
A science quiz competition was organized by Avicenna Science Society of LACAS. It was held on 28.02.2012 at LACAS School, Gulberg Branch. O-Level students Usman Farooq Butt, Shahroze Inam, Maira Javed and Ayesha Akram-ul-Haq XCA participated in the competition. Top twelve school teams from the Lahore city were among the competitors. It is a matter of great pride that our team won all rounds of the quiz competition including the Model Making round. Our students’ intellect and genius received a tremendous applause from the spectators and their efforts were truly appreciated by them. Our school team was awarded with a trophy for winning the competition.

The Laurelbank School System entered projects in 3 different categories i.e. Tourism Vs Eco-Tourism Explore Wetlands of Pakistan for ECO Tourism (Level -5), Energy Conservation, Alternative Energy (Level-4) and Habitat Conservation of Endangered Species (Snow Leopards, Green Turtles, Dolphins) Level -1. The LPS Shalimar Campus won the 1st prize in level I (classes I – III). We won the day over by receiving trophy for being 1st in the overall presentation.
Cassini Scientist For A Day Essay Writing Contest, 2011
Sara Zulfiqar (XMGA) a student of Secondary Sec. Girls’ Br. Shalimar Campus I has stood 2nd in the “Cassini Scientist for a Day Contest” being organized by SUPARCO Pakistan in collaboration with NASA in the month of October 2011. The topic of her essay was “Hyperion – the Moon of Saturn”.

WWF Nature Carnival 2011
The Nature Carnival 2011 was organized by the WWF on 13th Feb. 2011 at the Race Course Park. The Primary Section Shalimar Campus I and Shalimar campus II won the 1st prize on the topic “In campus Personalized Plantation and Adopt a Tree, Building of Bird Refuge in School”. The Primary Section Shalimar Campus I and Shalimar campus III won the 1st prize on the topic “Fresh Water Conservation Green Idea”. The Secondary Sections of the Alhamra Town Campus also won the 1st prize on the topic “Reduction of Carbon Foot Print of a School e.g. energy efficient classrooms, use of electronic appliances, paper use etc”. The Secondary Sections of the Daroghawala Campus won the 3rd prize on the topic “Energy Conservation —–Alternative Energy (Solar Bio gas)”. The Laurelbank School System won a trophy for being 2nd in the overall presentations.
The Earth Day Carnival at Aitcheson 2011
The Waste Busters organized the event at Aitcheson Amphitheatre on 22nd April 2011. We won shields for being “The Best Recycling Stall” and “The Best Mascot”. Ammar Babar XC, Ayesha Akram-ul-Haq IXC and Zaima Ahmad VIIIMG received 1st prizes in the painting competition in their respective categories. Zinia Qaiser VIIGA was also 2nd in the Painting Competition.
SUPARCO Space Week 2010
Ahmad Saeed V-P SRCI and Farwah Hassan IXM DWC got 1st positions in the Model Making Competition in their respective categories. Hafsa Arshad V-W SRCI and Ayesha Akram-ul-Haq IXC SRCI were 3rd in the Poster Competition. Talha Shahzad V-W SRCI and Hira Rashid VIIIMGA ATC were 1st in the Declamation Competition. Arooj Zaheer V-B SRCI and Sana Saleem VIIIMGA ATC were 2nd in the Essay Writing Competition while Amna Noor V-N SRCI was 3rd.
International Kangaroo Competition 2010
Mahnoor Ali VIII-SRCI got 5th position in Lahore out of a strength of 1,421 and got 14th position in Pakistan out of strength of 7,224.
Youth National Essay Writing Competition Dec 2009
The competition was organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs Pakistan. Maria Manzoor XMGB-SRCI got 2nd position and received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000. The topic of the essay was “Socio-Cultural Factors for Solidarity of Pakistan”.
Nature Carnival 2009
WWF Nature Carnival was held on Feb 22, 2009. Laurelbank School System won the third prize for all over presentations. Our students prepared 3D Models on various environmental themes such as “Hazards of Polythene Bags”, “Dengue Virus” and “Climate Change”. Below is a photograph of our team.
Football Match LPS Vs LGS
Below is a photograph of our winning football team. Our students demonstrated their team spirit by winning two football matches against LGS football team. Junior boys team won the game with a 9 to 2 margin. In the second match the LPS seniors won the match by a 10 to 1 margin. We are all very proud of our students’ sportsmanship! And hope to continue this tradition of achievement.
Geofest International 2008 (Lucknow, India)
A LSS delegation participated in the Geofest International 2008, this was held in Luknow, India. The LSS delegation consisted of eight students; under the leadership of Dr Salma Mian and supervision of Mr. Khalid Mehboob. During this international event our students participated in different environmental awareness related projects and the details of the prizes won are as follows:Create Your Taste (Juniors): 3rd Prize won by Hansa and Sidra KiwaiModel Making (Juniors): Consolation Prize was given to Asma Khalid and Hamza MustafaTopic Discussion: This event was arranged among eight groups of different schools; the LSS delegation leader was chosen to speak on a given topic and she won the 1st prize in this category.
